What was once a celebration of the life honoring the message of a selfless savior Has become a selfish and thoughtless annual pilgrimage to the dens of thieves Borrowing from money changers to feed the merchants of unnecessary goods Perpetuating the worship of a false idol who claims to bring happiness in a sack of gifts Promoting desire of more possessions to replace those that did not bring happiness Parading in fanciful dress to a show of worship in their lavish buildings of stone and glass All while demonizing those who choose not to participate in the misguided facade Ridiculing those whose actions truly reflect the words of their forgotten savior Accusing of blasphemy those who know the body and mind are a temple of the spirit
